Pongal,Sweet Pongal or Sakkarai Pongal is a famous South Indian dish.

Pongal is sweet rice.

It is made of rice, milk, ghee, cane sugar, mung beans, jaggery, camphor, cardamom, clove, cashews and raisins.

It is prepared by boiling milk in a clay pot over an open fire before being mixed with rice and other ingredients.

It is mostly eaten for lunch or special occasions.
