Shelpek is a famous Kazakh food.

Shelpek is a flatbread made from flour, milk, sugar, butter, sour cream called Kaymak, baking soda, salt and vegetable oil.

It is prepared by mixing the ingredients into dough balls which are then flattened before being fried in boiled oil until reaching a golden colour.

It can be eaten on it's own or with cream cheese or jam.

It is normally eaten for breakfast or special occasions.
