It is prepared by mixing rye flour and water until it becomes a stiff dough which is then flattened into round dough. It is then cooked on a frying pan or griddle, mixed with melted butter.

It is normally served with cream or cinnamon sugar fillings.

It is mostly eaten for breakfast.
