Botswana is a country in the Southern African region of the African continent.

Chicken In A Hole is a famous Botswanan dish.

Chicken In A Hole refers to slow-smoking the chicken meat in a hole in the ground.

It is made of chicken meat, garlic, onion, cabbage, paprika, herbs, curry powder, chilli, salt and vinegar.

It is prepared by washing the chicken with vinegar before being stuffed with onion and garlic and rubbed with chilli mixture over the chicken.

It is then wrapped with cabbage leaves and muslin before being wrapped with layers of aluminium foil and then placed on a wire rack over the pit hole in the ground which is heated by coals.

It is normally served with rice and potatoes.

It is mostly eaten for lunch.
